Good Reads
After discovering the GoodReads website I was in awe! I couldn't believe how smart someone was to make a social network just for discovering books. I am now able to see what books my friends are reading, get recomendations and keep track of the books that I have read. There is even a thing called your personal "Book Challenge." Through this you can set a goal of books that you want to read for the remainder of the year. This tool/widget would be so cool to use in the classroom with your students.
Imediately I leaped into the picture books that I have started off with. In our textbook a whole chapter is dedicated to pciture books and why they are benefitial in a classroom. "Children begin to look for visual elements and textual connections nd will gradually take over the process themselves." (Chapter 4 page 102)The rest of the chapter discusses how the pictures in picture books outline the book which helps the students thinking process and allows them to beter grasp the stories.
